Our Location in Akrotiri
One of the most wonderful pleasures in life is enjoying a beautiful landscape. Santorini is widely known as one of the gems of Greece’s majestic landmarks. And if you really want to enjoy magical Santorini, you are welcome to Mathios Village. In medieval times, Akrotiri was one of the five fortified settlements of the island and a most important prehistoric one, in the Aegean. Apart from having some of the best views, as far as Oia, magnificent sunsets, wonderful fish taverns, peaceful beaches and unique Cycladic churches, it is also home to two of Santorini’s jewels: the Akrotiri Excavations and Akrotiri venetian Castle.
The famous Red Beach is located on the southern coast near the village and ancient site of Akrotiri. It is made of black and red volcanic rocks.
It can be reached by boat from the port of Akrotiri or of Fira. The most adventurous ones, can use the rocky route from the car park nearby. The distance from the hotel is 10 minutes by foot.
Caldera beach is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel offering the best views all over caldera.
Akrotiri has many quiet, worth visiting beaches near the light house.

Next to the Reception Desk, one can find our private Travel Agency which arranges boat trips, sunset cruises, bus trips with a guide, kayak trips to Caldera as well as outdoor activities such as diving, horse riding, bike tours, trips to the close-by islands and of course car and motorbike rentals, in order to make your stay a unique experience. A bus transportation service and private tours are also available.
The bus stop is a few meters away from Mathios Village. The bus runs daily every hour and as from middle June more frequently (every half hour).

It feels like coming home, like coming back to family. The staff is so friendly, warm-hearted and would solve every problem (if you really would have one). We will come back ... actually planned for 2017! The only reason why we not recommend the hotel for families with young children is that parents must always have a look on their children due to the pool.
